Crackle

Pukhya (Tadtadia) are cone-shaped pale green or yellowish in color and have a habit of walking diagonally. Both young and adult plants lose their juices by losing their trunks in the dry leaves, resulting in yellowing of the leaves and crouching upwards. If there is more nuisance, the cannon dries out.

White fly

The insect has white winged and yellow abdomen. While the chicks are flat, oval and scales-like. Both the young and the male remain on the underside of the leaf and suck the sap from the leaf resulting in yellowing spots on the leaf. If there is more infestation, the leaf turns yellow. The chicks secrete a viscous honey-like substance that covers the leaf surface and flowers so as to impede plant growth. In addition, these insects act as carriers of yellow vein disease.

Panakthiri

The adults of this insect are red in color while the cubs are orange in color. Cubs and adults damage the underside of the leaf by making a fine mesh of silk threads coming out of their body and sucking the sap from the leaf inside which causes white to yellowish patches on the leaf. If there is more infestation, all the leaves turn yellow and brown and eventually fall off.

Stinging and fruit-eating caterpillars

The caterpillars are white, black-headed and have black and brown spots on their bodies, hence the name "cabbage caterpillar". At the beginning of the crop, the caterpillars eat the tender stalks and buds of the oats so that the stalks wither and fall off. The caterpillar perches on the scales and eats the fetus, which is often found to be crooked and unfit for sale.
